Tissue Culture Ornamental Plant Propagation — BYS Flora International
Every BYS Flora plant begins its life in a sterile laboratory — not in soil.
Tissue culture is the production method that sets BYS Flora International apart from every conventional nursery. Here is what it means, how it works, and why it matters to you as a buyer.
A single meristematic cell. Millions of genetically identical plants.
Tissue culture — or micropropagation — is the process of propagating plants from tiny amounts of plant tissue (meristems, shoot tips, or nodes) in sterile, controlled laboratory conditions. The tissue is placed on a nutrient-rich agar medium in sealed vessels, where it multiplies rapidly under precisely controlled light, temperature, and humidity.
Unlike conventional propagation methods (seed, cutting, division), tissue culture produces plants that are:
- Genetically identical to the mother plant
- Verified free from viruses, bacteria, and fungal pathogens
- Produced in controlled, documented conditions at unlimited scale
- Available year-round regardless of seasonal variation
Genetic Uniformity — Every TC Plant Identical
Every plant is genetically identical to every other plant in the batch. For retail chains worldwide that need visual consistency across hundreds of stores — the same height, the same leaf shape, the same growth stage — this is not a luxury. It is a requirement. Conventional propagation cannot deliver this. Tissue culture does, by definition.

Certified Disease-Free TC Stock
Every BYS Flora plant originates from tissue that has been heat-treated and virus-indexed before entry into the laboratory. Pathogens that devastate conventional nursery stock — Tobacco Mosaic Virus, Fusarium, Phytophthora — cannot survive the sterile tissue culture environment. Third-party virus indexing certificates are available on request for every batch.

Unlimited Scalability — From Explant to Export
From a single explant, tissue culture produces hundreds of thousands of identical plants within months. When a buyer commits to an annual supply contract, we can scale production to meet it — without the multi-year lead times that limit conventional nursery stock. This scalability also enables us to offer contract propagation services for plant breeders worldwide.

Year-Round Availability — No Seasonal Constraints
Conventional propagation is seasonal. Mother plants are not always available. Cuttings cannot always be taken. Tissue culture has no such constraint. Our production schedule is calendar-independent — we can ship in January as reliably as in June. For buyers with annual frame contracts, this predictability is transformative.

Smoother Phytosanitary Clearance for TC Plants
Plants from certified tissue culture laboratories with documented production protocols present a significantly lower phytosanitary risk profile at border control posts. Our clean inspection track record, combined with full lot traceability from laboratory to container, means fewer holds, fewer rejections, and faster clearance for our buyers — in every destination market.

Produced at HasBiotech — Antalya's leading TC facility.
Our tissue culture plants are propagated at the HasBiotech laboratory in Antalya, Türkiye. HasBiotech specialises in ornamental plant micropropagation and has built one of the most rigorous production and documentation systems in the region. Every batch produced for BYS Flora International is logged, virus-indexed, and accompanied by full traceability records from explant to acclimatised plantlet.
